When in Rome, do as Romans do

Since the earliest stages of our education, we were taught to beware the bandwagon effect & not to become a “goat” of mainstream society. Promoting uniqueness and praising individuality without ever considering that we are all roughly built from the same mould. In this quest against conformity truly lies a haughty disdain of what’s normal, stereotypical.
Don’t give me that “We’re all unique” bullcrap cause you think that just because you don’t like Radiohead and your friend does you’re any different? Why do YOU stand apart in our bunch? Just because your high school teacher made you read some Hemingway it doesn’t even make you more cultivated or educated than an illiterate, it just gives you that comforting illusion.
Isn’t that one of human being’s worst fears; Realizing that you’re probably just as shitty as the next guy?
So at this point you’re probably wondering; what’s the point of going to school, getting a formal education then?
My theory is this, if you can’t beat the system(trust me you can’t) follow the fine limits of it; go get your prestigious degree, the dream house, the shiny car and maybe then the pain of being like everyone else will be dulled.
